Three Independent Music Award Nominations for Amy Correia

March 25, 2012 | No Comments

Amy Correia has been nominated for three Independent Music Awards–Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Album, Best “Love” Song & Best Story

The 11th Annual Independent Music Awards have just announced their 2012 nominees and Amy Correia is one of a handful of songwriters to garner three nominations: “Singer-Songwriter Folk Album” — Your Go Your Way, “Love Song” — Love Changes Everything, and “Story Song” — Took Him Away.  While Keith Richards, Tom Waits, Kathleen Brennan, Suzanne Vega, Ozzy Osbourne are just some of the jury members for the official IMA awards this year, there is also a popular vote that fans can cast.  It is quite easy to register on the IMA site and then cast your votes – 5 stars shows your highest level of appreciation for each nominated work.  Click here to view the links to vote for Amy:

Amy Correia’s third album “You Go Your Way” “veers seamlessly from arena rock to gospel music, that includes both power chords and a string quartet.” (NPR)  Correia delivers her songs with a raw power that’s both vulnerable and fierce.  That musical honesty draws comparisons to Cat Power and Neil Young and The New York Times calls her a “singular talent.” Her fans agree, pitching in to raise more than $35,000 to make “You Go Your Way”.  The album  “basics” were recorded in 3 days by Jay Bellerose (drums), Paul Bryan (bass) & Correia (acoustic gtr, bari uke, piano). Producer, Paul Bryan (Aimee Mann) made a “fine album with spare, sharp rhythm parts highlighting the strong, bluesy vocals, and featuring uncommonly effective string-quartet arrangements” (The New Yorker).
